About The Curious Farmhouse

Welcome to The Curious Farmhouse, a nature-based, bilingual learning space where children explore farming, nutrition, and hands-on life skills in a joyful, play-centered environment. Our programs blend storytelling, gardening, tasting activities, and seasonal workshops to help kids build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong connection to the land. Founded by Lizned Larrota (RN, homeschool mother) and her parents, Luis (“Papa Noni”) and Luzmiryam (“Mama Noni”), we aim to increase community engagement through unique planting sessions that include hands-on nutritional lessons, sensory experiences, and outdoor planting activities.

Founder & Lead Educator

Lizned Larrota

Lizned is the visionary behind The Curious Farmhouse, a nature-based, bilingual learning space inspired by her own childhood experience planting vegetables in Chile and Ecuador along with her desire to give her three children hands-on education rooted in wellness, wonder, and creativity.

A Registered Nurse and home school mother, Lizned blends her passion for child
development, storytelling, nutrition, and community health into meaningful experiences for families across the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area.

She writes all of the bilingual garden stories children hear during the workshops and leads sessions that combine nutrition education, sensory
exploration, and hands-on planting.

With a commitment to the belief that food is medicine and that children deserve to know where their food comes from, Lizned has built a program where curiosity blooms, confidence grows, and healthy habits take root.

She continues to expand The Curious
Farmhouse with the hope of creating a space where families can connect, unplug, learn, and flourish together.

Co-founder, Master Gardener, Farming Instructor, Builder

Luis Rojas "Papa Noni"

Luis brings more than five decades of gardening experience spanning five different countries to The Curious Farmhouse. He began planting and caring for land at the age of seven and has spent his life cultivating vegetables, improving soil, and building sustainable growing spaces.

As Master Gardener and Farming Instructor, he prepares and maintains the greenhouse and garden beds, plowing, enriching soil with organic nutrients, and ensuring each crop thrives.

He teaches children how to prepare soil, handle seeds, water properly, and care for
growing plants. Known for his creativity and craftsmanship, Luis designed and built many of the farm’s unique features, including the beloved wagon train.

Luis believes deeply in empowering children: “Kids need to know they are capable. Even with their tiny hands, they can learn real skills.”

His steady presence, gentle guidance, and lifelong love for the land make him an essential pillar of The Curious Farmhouse community.

Luzmiryam "Mama Noni"

Luzmiryam is the heart and wisdom of The Curious Farmhouse. A long-time wellness
